This wonderfully elegant carved Victorian carnelian intaglio ring is set in 14k yellow gold. The intaglio itself dates from the late 1800's. The mounting dates from the 1950s. The oval shaped deep amber colored carnelian is beautifully carved with 3 faces. Starting from the left is a young women, followed by a bearded man, and last a younger male. Their profiles are intricately carved with so much intricate detail - truly breathtaking. There is a soft translucence that is accentuated when held to the light. It is framed in a polished oval gold mounting. Simple sophistication infused with quiet powerfulness. The ring measures 3/4" x 1/2". It weighs 11.93 grams. It will fit a size 7 finger.
